The Group covers several areas of Economics. One of those areas is Econometrics, with theoretical research including both microeconometric and macroeconometric topics and empirical work focusing on the area of Finance. In the area of Macroeconomics, the determinants of human capital accumulation and economic growth and the effects of macroeconomic policies are the main research topics. Sustainability and Change are also main research interests, more specifically environmental regulation, water management, energy economics and economic transition towards sustainability.
More specific research topics include: fractional regression models, robust model selection in rational expectations models, currency competition, impact of automation and robotics in economic growth, the economic consequences of climate change, climate econometrics, the social repercussions of inequality and poverty, effects of labour market policies, the role of training and peers in wage determination, sustainability for higher-education institutions, groundwater management models, behavioural economic models of resource use, nature-based solutions to environmental policy problems, geography of sea trade and economic regulation.
