The broad research interests of this group concern research in Management Strategy, Marketing and Accounting. It aims at building a theoretical body of knowledge, able to contribute to practice and decision making, in both profit seeking and not-for-profit (NFP) organizations, in Portugal and beyond. 

Research in Management includes: sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of firms; knowledge management and transfer; health management; NFP organizations and their networks; real estate; family-run businesses; leadership; safety and quality of life in urban areas; strategy and internationalization. 

Research in Management Accounting focuses on the role accounting systems play in internal management decisions like cost controls and performance measurement. Research on financial reporting quality investigates the role of public accounting information in the decision-making of external capital providers such as investors and creditors, as well as the State and auditors. Research on public sector accounting reporting has been studying the relationships between Governmental Accounting and National Accounts. 

In the field of Marketing, researchers are mainly involved in the following areas: branding; corporate reputation; electronic commerce; corporate communications and corporate social responsibility; rural tourism, sports marketing; B2B marketing; relationships, networks and interactions; as well as country-of-origin effects on country competitiveness. 

Main achievements 2013-2017: 

i) Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): invitation to participate in the Technical Commission – Social Responses and Continuing Integrated Care (CT 186) of the Portuguese Quality Institute aimed at elaborating Portuguese Norms that may help organisations in their day to day work of responding to various social problems. 

ii) Real Estate: a methodological novelty was added through the integrated use of cognitive mapping and multiple-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) techniques, resulting in the involved researchers receiving the Andre Jordan Award 2016 from Confidencial Imobiliário – an independent organization of the real estate sector. 

iii) Marketing: Researchers have created the Marketing FutureCast Lab - the first European laboratory to do applied research in new trends in marketing, management and tourism. This laboratory is integrated in AUDAX-ISCTE, the ISCTE-IUL Entrepreneurship Center. 

iv) Financial Accounting and Policymaking: the International Accounting Standards Board (as the international public regulator) and the Comissão de Normalização Contabilística (the Portuguese accounting standards board) have taken into account the academic results of studies conducted by group members.
